Job title:
Programs Officer ( Whole School Transformation – Shimoga)
Description:
As a Programs Officer, you'll oversee a portfolio of programs around India. You'll work with a small and hardworking team to make sure that Bal Utsav's funds are invested in the most relevant and effective Infrastructure, Teacher Development, Scholarship and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programs out there.  You'll help extensively vet proposals before agreeing to grants and you'll develop close relationships with our local partners and make sure that the program objectives are met. You'll help build new systems that make our partnerships models of efficiency and transparency; and position our programs to achieve maximum impact today and over time.

Responsibilities

  • You'll supervise a portfolio of ₹8-10M of investments in whole school transformation, in the areas of Infrastructure, Teacher Development, Scholarship and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) Programs.
  • You'll manage, coordinate and lead our partner organisations and stay informed of their progress against program objectives.
  • You’ll regularly identify opportunities for strengthening critical technical and operational areas relating to the implementation of Bal Utsav's funds. Including technical quality, coordination with and reliance on local institutions and organisational efficiency.
  • You'll visit the field to supervise work on the ground and then agree on action plans and next steps with partners. 25-30% travel expected.
  • You'll work collaboratively with each of Bal Utsav’ departments (finance, compliance, programs, growth, creative, reporting, technology, etc.) to make sure their involvement in our school programs is maximised and efficient.
  • You'll work closely with the Director of Programs to plan for future commitments to partners.
  • You'll develop innovative ways to provide our beneficiaries with sustainable sources of effective education, improve our partners' understanding of our requirements, capture stories from the field, gather information on program status, and plan for program expansion.
  • You will help grow and manage a post implementation support system to ensure sustainability of our supported schools.
  • You will carefully project manage the timelines and relationships to ensure all objectives and milestones are carried out on time.
Requirement:
  • You are a leader.  You are skilled at accomplishing things through other people. You can run multiple work streams that extend far beyond your immediate team. You can provide leadership for peers, subordinates and partners.
  • You have a track record of learning/experience, where it matters.  You have relevant knowledge and/or experience in the public education space in India. The Whole School Revitalisation Program is nothing new to you.

Office Coordinator
Description:
As the Office Coordinator, you will join our People and Culture team and support the Office Experience Manager in maintaining a beautiful, inspiring and productive space for our team and guests. You will play an integral role in ensuring that our office runs as efficiently as possible every day for our team of world changers. You’ll also manage two key operational programs - our competitive internship program and our network of incredible volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the appearance of our office on a daily basis. .
  • Own office facilities, supply/food orders, and vendor relations.
  • Keep our space looking fresh with minor upgrades and new installations.
  • Be the face of Bal Utsav, ready and prepared to answer calls and greet guests that come our way when covering the front desk on your regular walk through.
  • Lead our volunteer program, identifying and resourcing volunteer needs across the organization from event support to tax receipt fulfillment, while also striving to give our volunteers an edifying experience.
  • Support the ongoing management and improvement of the intern program.
  • Lend your organisational and admin skills to support the overall Operations function.
Requirement:
  • At least 1-2 years managing facilities in a fast paced office environment.
  • Some receptionist experience required.
  • Customer Service or Office Coordinator experience a plus.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Acute attention to detail and proven track record of creating systems and processes for efficiency.
  • Proficient working with Mac products and Google applications, experience with project management software is a plus.
