History

This school is a fine example of the Nidige village community coming together to bring education for their children. The land on which the school stands today was donated by Kenchahalappa and Halamma from Nidige village. Other village residents, NB Navalappa, NG Murugeshappa, NT Rangappa and BR Basappa put their hands together and helped with the construction of the modest school building with 2 classrooms in 1937.  At that time, 2 teachers were entrusted to run the lower primary school. The school transitioned into a Higher Primary school in 1949.

Renovation work was taken up by the government recently to fix the roof of the building.
