In August 2019, catastrophic floods caused by incessant rains wreaked havoc in large parts of Karnataka and Kerala. Many parts of South India were badly affected as a result of the heavy downpour and the subsequent release of the water stored from some of the dams.

Houses were inundated, displacing many. Normal life in these states was disrupted. Hundreds of people lost their lives and over a million were severely affected by the floods. Bal Utsav began responding to those impacted by the floods on 6th August 2019 and continued this support for 5 weeks.

Over the span of 5 weeks it was reiterated that it takes immense love in one’s heart to invest in families you’ve never met but want to support in times of need We were very fortunate to work with amazing individuals, organisations, institutes and volunteers who made this possible
