Kallahalli is a small village in Bhadravathi Taluk, 17 kms from Shivamogga city centre. Located amidst picturesque lush green paddy fields, with arecanut plantations all around, Government Higher Primary School Kallahalli is a small village school with a difference. The small agrarian community is actively pursuing a dream – to make this school the preferred school for villages within a 5 km radius. In 2019 Bal Utsav stepped in to help them achieve their dream.
As part of the Government’s commitment to provide free compulsory primary education, this school started in 1960 as a lower primary school (class 1-4) in a room in Kallahalli village with 2 teachers and 20 students.
In 1990 it was converted to a Higher primary school (class 1-7) and relocated to a new school building, where the school currently functions from, was provided by the Government on 2 acres of land. Over the years, this school has enabled over 1200 children to receive primary education.
